Introduction
This policy explains, in general terms, how personal information may be handled when you use Petit Chichi or contact us.
Petit Chichi is a directory and reference service.
How and When We Collect Personal Information
We may receive personal information when you submit a contact form, request a correction, suggest a brand or otherwise communicate with Petit Chichi.
Technical information may also be processed when the website is delivered, secured, searched or measured through services enabled in production.
Information We Collect
Depending on how you use the site, information may include:
- name and email address supplied through a contact form
- message subject and content
- the page or profile referenced in a correction request
- technical request information needed to deliver and secure the website
- analytics information if analytics is enabled and lawfully configured
How We Use Your Information
Information may be used to:
- respond to directory questions and feedback
- review correction requests or brand suggestions
- operate, secure and troubleshoot the website
- understand aggregate site use where analytics is enabled
- meet applicable legal obligations
Brand Submissions and Content
Information submitted about a brand may be checked against public or official sources before it is used. Sending information does not guarantee that a profile, correction or suggestion will be published.
Cookies and Analytics
Petit Chichi works without analytics. Optional analytics is available only on the production website and only while it is explicitly switched on. When it is switched on, measurement uses Google Tag Manager and PostHog, and neither is loaded except where the rules below allow it.
Measurement is never loaded before a decision exists. Visitors that the hosting platform identifies, on the server, as being in Europe are asked first, and no Google Tag Manager or PostHog request is made until they allow analytics. Visitors that the hosting platform identifies as being outside Europe do not receive that first prompt. Where the continent cannot be determined, or is not recognized, the site fails closed and an explicit choice is required.
The continent is determined server-side by the hosting platform from the request. The continent, the country, the city and the IP address are not stored in the browser and are not used to build a profile. For visitors outside Europe the server may set one functional session marker that records only that an initial prompt is not required. That marker contains no location, no identifier and no measurement data, it expires when the browser session ends, and its absence simply means an explicit choice is required.
An explicit analytics choice is stored in the browser as a small versioned record, and it always takes precedence over the geographic default. Analytics can be allowed or refused at any time through "Cookie settings" in the footer. Withdrawing stops any future loading and attempts to remove the analytics browser state this site controls. Information that was already transmitted before a withdrawal is not deleted retroactively by clearing browser cookies.
Where session replay is enabled in the PostHog project, a replay records how a page was used rather than what was typed: every input value is masked before it leaves the browser, the bot-protection widget is blocked from recording entirely, and request headers and bodies are never recorded, so no contact message and no verification token can appear in a replay.
- refusing analytics does not limit the directory or any other site function
- advertising storage, advertising user data and advertising personalisation remain denied in every case, because no advertising or remarketing service is implemented
Third-Party Links
Profiles and editorial pages link to external brand, shop and product websites. Their privacy practices are controlled by those third parties, not by Petit Chichi.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
Personal information may be processed by service providers needed to operate the website, search or communications, and may be disclosed where required by law.
Data Storage and Security
Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect personal information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights relating to access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability of personal information.
Data Retention
Personal information is kept only for as long as needed for the purpose for which it was collected, subject to applicable legal and operational requirements.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
This policy may be updated when the website, its services or applicable requirements change. The current version is published on this page.
