ABOUT
About poptop
poptop was launched in Austria in 2023 by Christian Bezdeka and Marcus Ihlenfeld, the founders of children's bicycle company woom, to apply child-specific product design to furniture instead of making scaled-down adult pieces. The range centres on an independently adjustable desk, movement-friendly seating and modular open storage that children operate and reorganise themselves. Forms are geometric and restrained, with mechanisms left visible and components rounded. The desk uses an engineered-wood top with powder-coated steel, and the chair pairs a steel frame with a recycled-PET shell.
Why it stands out
Child-operated mechanisms, movement-friendly ergonomics and modular storage turn everyday furniture into tools for independence.
DESIGN NOTES
poptop children's furniture design
poptop applies child-centered functional design to desks, seating and storage. Products use simple geometric forms, restrained gray, white and green color options, visible mechanisms and rounded components. The desk prioritizes fast manual height adjustment over drawers or a tilting top. Its tabletop mounting holes support the modular popsnap accessory system. The chair permits varied sitting positions, while the open storage system uses movable levels and lightweight containers that children can rearrange themselves.
