ABOUT
About ecoBirdy
ecoBirdy is a Belgian brand that turns discarded plastic toys into furniture for children. The material is made from collected and recycled toy plastic, and fragments of the original toys stay visible in the surface, so a chair or table carries the speckled trace of what it used to be. The range covers children's seating, tables, storage and small accessories, moulded into rounded forms scaled for young children and light enough to be moved around a room. Production is described as taking place mainly in Italy using rotational moulding with manual input from skilled operators.
Why it stands out
ecoBirdy keeps fragments of old toys visible in its recyclable material, linking tactile furniture for children to a clear circular-design lesson.
DESIGN NOTES
ecoBirdy children's furniture design
Children's products use rounded edges, soft transitions, broad surfaces and stable proportions intended for active use. Charlie Chair combines a large seat with a lightweight, tip-resistant form, while Luisa Table supports different sitting postures. The visible fragments in ecothylene create irregular speckled patterns, so individual pieces vary. Smooth surfaces aid cleaning, and selected furniture can be used indoors or outdoors.
